Stephen H. Simon, Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Stephen H. Simon is Founder and Managing Partner of Simon Equity Partners, LLC, a San Francisco-based private equity firm, and previously served as President and CEO of Melvin Simon & Associates, Inc., an Indianapolis-based private real estate and investment company. Mr. Simon, who was previously active as a developer in Simon Property Group’s Community Center and Mall Divisions, is a graduate of Indiana University. He serves on the Board of Directors of Pacers Basketball Corporation, Method Products, Inc., and Yes To, Inc. Mr. Simon is active in fund-raising for numerous community organizations and serves on the Board of Directors of the Simon Youth Foundation, Conscious Alliance, and Head Count, Inc.
Herbert Simon, Co-Founder
Herbert Simon is Chairman Emeritus and co- founder of Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group, Inc., a member of the S&P 500 and the largest U.S. publicly traded real estate company. SPG is engaged primarily in regional malls, Premium Outlet Centers and community/lifestyle centers and currently owns, or has interest in, approximately 380 properties in the North America, Europe and Asia.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and educated at City College of New York he earned a B.B.A. degree in business. Mr. Simon, along with brothers Melvin and Fred, founded Melvin Simon & Associates as a private company in 1960, becoming one of this industry’s earliest pioneers. In l993, the company made history when Simon Property Group was formed from an Initial Public Offering (NYSE:SPG), becoming the largest REIT IPO in U.S. history at that time.
Todd Steele, Managing Partner
Todd Steele is a Managing Partner of Simon Equity Partners. Previously, Mr. Steele served as Chief Financial Officer for WPT Enterprises, a media and gaming company based in Los Angeles. Prior to joining WPT, Mr. Steele served as a financial executive for Sony Pictures and as Chief Financial Officer for PlanetRx.com, Inc. Mr. Steele has also served in a variety of financial and operational capacities for companies such as American Express and the New York Times Company. Mr. Steele began his career with Ernst and Young, LLP and earned his B.A. degree in Business Economics from UCLA.
Nancy Miller, Vice President
Nancy Miller is a Vice President of Simon Equity Partners and joined the fund in 2009. Prior to SEP, Nancy was a Vice President at Bank of Montreal, specializing in consumer and food transactions, including the IPO of Diamond Walnut. Prior to banking, Nancy worked in venture capital at Sienna Ventures, where she led investments in start-up consumer and software companies such as Phone.com, and at Maroley Media Group, where she worked with early-stage businesses in Asia. She has also been a consultant to privately-held middle market businesses and began her career as a CPA. Nancy holds a B.S. from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Margo Berry, Office Manager and Executive Assistant
Margo Berry has been a member of the Simon team in various capacities for over 20 years. She currently serves as Office Manager and Executive Assistant for the Indianapolis office of Simon Equity Partners, LLC.
In addition to her responsibilities for Simon Equity Partners, LLC, Margo serves as Office Manager and Executive Assistant for two Indianapolis-based Simon family foundations: The Herbert Simon Family Foundation and Stephen H. Simon Foundation, Inc.
Margo is a graduate of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business at Indianapolis with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
Lauren Garcia, Executive Assistant
Lauren Garcia takes care of the day to day needs of the San Francisco office. Prior to joining Simon Equity Partners April 2011, she worked as the Administrative Assistant for Fox River Execution in Manhattan, NY. Lauren attended St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, NY receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
